Packing a Sea Kayak walks you through the fine points with tips and tricks to get more stuff jammed in there. The Tiderace Xcite sea kayak is one good looking boat. Speaking of Tiderace friend of the site and fellow nerd, Keith Wikle over at gokayaknow.com just announced that he has joining team Tiderace. Good work son! Good work.

If your goal is to one day sign-up for the BCU 5* training but unsure of what exactly it entails, head over to Simon Willis's blog and read for yourself as he recently participated in the traing with Gordon Brown and Ken Nicol from Skyak Adventures.The posting is very choppy and it's almost like he only has three minutes to capture his thoughts to paper before his taskmasters have another lesson to teach him with their giant whips.Sounds like a great time and it makes me want to jump onboard tomorrow.Below is part of the entry for day three:

Canoe & Kayak Magazine recently published two quick instructional videos featuring Shawna Franklin and Leon Somme, who are both amazing instructors and owners of the paddling school, Body Boat Blade International.The two clips are produced by Bryan Smith and you can tell is unique and professional style immediately. Both videos are exactly as instructional videos should be, short and straight to the point with no wasted words.

Here are a couple photos from a trip last week up to Lake Superior last week. I had the pleasure of being invited to teach a Paddle Canada Level 2 sea kayaking course at Naturally Superior Adventures with my co-instructor; the very funny and hugely talented Rev. Bonnie Perry. Long-time readers will remember a piece I wrote a year ago when she was nominated to be the Bishop of Minnesota.
